Dap Paxton is an award-winning filmmaker, director, and educator dedicated to cultivating authentic storytelling and developing the next generation of creative voices. With a career rooted in both narrative filmmaking and community-based arts education, Paxton’s work bridges professional media production with meaningful cultural impact.
His most recent short film has been officially selected for the 2025 Cannes Film Festival, and has screened at respected international and domestic festivals including the BronzeLens Film Festival, Africa/USA International Film Festival, France/USA Film Festival, and the Silicon Valley African Film Festival. His films are recognized for their emotional depth, strong visual language, and commitment to underrepresented perspectives.
In addition to his filmmaking career, Paxton has spent five years working with youth in filmmaking, designing and leading hands-on programs that introduce students to directing, cinematography, storytelling, and collaborative production workflows. Through camps, workshops, and after-school programs, he emphasizes real-world industry practices while fostering confidence, creativity, and teamwork.
As the founder of Auteur Atlanta, Paxton continues to build platforms that support independent filmmakers through education, production, and exhibition—creating pathways for emerging artists to learn, create, and be seen.
